In the evening, powerful thunderstorms swept through several federal states in Germany, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in their wake. The natural element led to numerous accidents, widespread flooding, and serious disruptions to the transport infrastructure. Rescue services were pushed to their limits, receiving hundreds of calls in a short period.

### Accident on the S-Bahn in Berlin

One of the most high-profile incidents occurred in Berlin, where bad weather disrupted the operation of the city commuter train. An S-Bahn train carrying about 100 passengers collided with a tree that had fallen onto the tracks during the storm. The impact shattered the locomotive's windshield, but fortunately, no passengers or staff were injured.

### Mass Calls to Rescue Services

The situation spiraled out of control in several regions where the storm caused maximum damage. In Brandenburg, fire brigades responded to dozens of calls related to fallen trees, broken branches, and flooded basements. The highest number of requests came from the Cottbus area.

The situation was particularly critical in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Within minutes, dispatch services recorded more than 70 emergencies, ranging from flooded roads to trees falling onto the carriageway. In the Dessau-Roßlau area, the load on rescuers reached a critical level—the fire service received more than 120 emergency reports in just 20 minutes of the storm.

### Consequences in Saxony

In Saxony, the epicenter of events was Leipzig, where strong winds felled trees and broke branches, posing a threat to traffic and pedestrians. In addition, the bad weather affected the region's waterways: on Lake Kulkwitz, rescuers had to evacuate two people riding on stand-up paddleboards.

Despite the extensive consequences and destruction, preliminary data indicates that there were no fatalities or serious injuries in Germany. This event continued a series of weather catastrophes in Europe: the day before, at least two people were reported dead in France, where thunderstorms also caused significant delays to night "Intercity" trains on the route between Paris and Toulouse.
