Ukrainian defense forces have carried out an unprecedented operation, striking one of Russia's key industrial facilities. On the night of July 6, drones covered a distance of more than three thousand kilometers to reach the Omsk Oil Refinery (NPP). According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the attack was aimed at depriving the Russian economy of the ability to finance the war.

### Target of the Strike: The Country's Largest Refinery

The Omsk Oil Refinery is the largest oil refining enterprise in Russia. Located beyond the Urals, the plant plays a critical role in ensuring energy resources. The company's products include aviation fuel, diesel fuel, and gasoline, which are actively used by the Russian armed forces. Preliminary data indicates that the primary oil processing unit ELOU-AVT-11 was damaged as a result of the attack, leading to a fire on the plant's territory.

### Strategy of Asymmetric Response

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that the actions of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) are aimed at forcing Russia to enter into peace negotiations. "While Russian strikes are aimed at plunging Ukraine into chaos and destroying our homes and businesses, the Defense Forces are forcing Russia to make peace by force," the ministry emphasized. The operation demonstrates Ukraine's ability to strike deeply located targets in the enemy's rear.

### Consequences for the Russian Economy

The damage to the Omsk Oil Refinery is one of the most significant blows to Russian infrastructure since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Damage to the key unit could lead to a reduction in fuel production volumes and disruption of logistics chains. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that the consequences of the war will be felt by those who support its continuation, including industrial centers and economic assets.
