The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has released photographic evidence of a new war crime committed by the Russian Armed Forces. Fragments of the fuselage of a 'Geran-2' attack drone were found on the territory of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, in the area of the Centralized Storage Facility for Spent Nuclear Fuel (CSFSNF).

### Attack details and extent of damage

According to the SBU investigative and operational group, the attack on the strategic facility occurred in the early hours of June 7 at 02:05. Law enforcement officers have already documented individual elements of the enemy kamikaze drone directly at the site of the impact. The explosion caused significant damage to the infrastructure: the administrative building of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and buildings intended for the receipt and reloading of spent nuclear fuel were damaged.

As clarified by the state concern 'Energoatom', at the moment of the strike, the damaged container reception building did not physically store spent nuclear fuel. Nevertheless, the partial destruction of the building and the resulting fire confirm the critical nature of the attack on the energy infrastructure.

### Investigation and threat assessment

Currently, SBU investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, are conducting comprehensive measures within the framework of a criminal case opened under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act). The agency has officially classified the strike on the storage facility as a war crime.

Despite the seriousness of the incident, the SBU assured that the attempt at 'nuclear blackmail' did not lead to catastrophic consequences. The drone strike did not affect the current production process of the storage facility. The radiation background on the station territory and in the adjacent exclusion zone remains within normal limits. There were no casualties or injuries as a result of the explosion.

### Reaction of the country's leadership

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted sharply to the new act of 'nuclear terror'. The head of state called Russia's actions 'exceeding stratospheric audacity' and emphasized that Moscow deliberately struck a critically important facility, creating a threat to environmental security.
