On the afternoon of July 24, Russian forces launched a powerful strike on the Kyiv region. The target of the attack was a private range where representatives of Ukraine's defense industry were present at the time. According to the latest data, the death toll from the tragedy has reached 10 people, with dozens injured.

### Chronology of the Air Attack

Events unfolded rapidly. During daylight hours, which is atypical for most shelling incidents, Russian troops launched three ballistic missiles towards Kyiv. The command of the Ukrainian Air Force (AFU) responded promptly to the threat: one of the missiles was intercepted by air defense systems. However, two missiles breached the defenses and reached their target in the Kyiv region.

Yuriy Ignat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command, clarified the details of the incident during a televised marathon. According to him, in addition to ballistic missiles, two Oniks cruise missiles were launched towards southern Ukraine that day. "A strike occurred. Today, strikes were carried out not at night, but during the day... unfortunately, two could not be [intercepted], and two hits were recorded in the Kyiv region," Ignat reported.

### Target of the Attack and Scale of Destruction

Once the dust settled, the specifics of the impact site became known. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration (KOMA), the missile hit the territory of a private range where an event was taking place. The people present there were associated with the Ukrainian defense industry.

The situation at the scene of the disaster was critical. Initially, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the consequences, citing a preliminary figure of six dead and dozens injured. However, later, Ukraine's Prosecutor General Ruslan Kравченко updated the data, confirming that the death toll had risen to 10 people, while the number of injured approached one hundred.

### Investigation and Criminal Proceedings

In response to the tragedy, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies launched a large-scale investigation. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kравченко announced the opening of criminal proceedings regarding a war crime committed by the Russian Federation (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Investigators are also paying special attention to the internal aspects of the event organization. Kравченко stated that proceedings have been initiated under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding possible improper performance of official duties. "The investigation will establish who made the decision to hold the event, who coordinated the location, time, and format of its conduct, what security measures were provided, and whether risks were properly assessed under martial law conditions," the Prosecutor General emphasized.
