On the night of July 27, Russian forces struck civilian merchant ships moored in the ports of the Mykolaiv region. This event marks a new tragic chapter in the history of the conflict, where the target was not military objects, but commercial vessels trapped in Ukrainian harbors.

According to RBK-Ukraine, citing the State Enterprise "Administration of Seaports of Ukraine," the consequences of the attack are already known. There are casualties and injured among the crews. The agency's statement expressed sincere condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased sailor.

### Systemic nature of attacks

Official representatives of the port infrastructure emphasize: this is not a random incident, but a new deliberate strike against civilian shipping. The ships that became targets have been blocked in Ukrainian ports since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. For years, they have been unable to leave their berths, remaining hostages of the geopolitical situation.

"Attacks on ships that have been unable to leave blocked ports for years demonstrate the systemic nature of Russian terror against the maritime industry and create a direct threat to the lives of civilian sailors," stated the State Enterprise "Administration of Seaports of Ukraine".

Currently, the process of recording all consequences of the attack is underway. Damage is being documented, and evidence of war crimes against the civilian fleet is being collected.

### International reaction and economic consequences

Against the backdrop of the incident, Ukraine has once again appealed to its allies to react decisively to strikes against the merchant fleet. Kyiv insists on the need to protect international maritime law and the safety of civilian transport.

The economic consequences of the attack are already beginning to manifest. It was previously reported that foreign ships have stopped entering Ukrainian ports. The Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy commented on the situation, assessing the risks of a possible total blockade of exports.

Furthermore, it has become known that the largest logistics operator, Maersk, has temporarily suspended services through the Black Sea Fishery Port. This decision could signal other international companies to reconsider their routes due to increased risks.

Ukraine is also urgently convening a meeting of the UN Security Council to raise the issue of protecting civilian shipping and to draw the attention of the international community to the escalation of violence in the Black Sea.
