# Strikes on Sumy: Trolleybus Completely Burned, Driver Seriously Injured

On the evening of June 22, the city of Sumy became the target of a large-scale attack by Russian aviation. According to local authorities, the enemy used six guided aerial bombs. As a result of one of the explosions, which occurred in close proximity to public transport, a trolleybus was completely burned down.

### Chronicle of the Tragedy

Information about the incident was confirmed by the Acting Mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar. He reported that the enemy launched a series of strikes on the city, resulting in significant destruction and fires. One of the munitions fell near a trolleybus, which was located near the epicenter of the explosion at the time of the attack. The fire quickly engulfed the vehicle, destroying it completely.

### Casualties and Consequences

The tragedy did not pass without human casualties and injuries. The 60-year-old driver of the trolleybus sustained serious injuries. Medical personnel urgently hospitalized the man, assessing his condition as critical. At present, he is under the supervision of doctors.

All relevant emergency services are working at the site of the bomb impacts and the fire. Currently, the active liquidation of the attack's consequences is ongoing: firefighters are extinguishing fire sources, and rescuers are assessing the damage.

### Context of Escalation

The attack on Sumy is taking place against the backdrop of increased pressure by Russian forces on the region's transport infrastructure. Back in early June, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Advisor Serhiy Bystrov warned of the beginning of systematic strikes on transport links between Kharkiv and Sumy.

According to him, the enemy chose a section of the road near the city of Bohodukhiv, located approximately 20 kilometers from the state border, for attacks. The incident with the trolleybus confirms that strikes on infrastructure objects and populated areas are continuing with high intensity.
