# Suicide of a serviceman in Yavoriv RTC: Lviv region investigates the incident in Mostyska

On Saturday, August 1, 2026, a tragic event occurred in the city of Mostyska, Lviv region, which attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies and military authorities. The body of a serviceman without signs of life was found in the office of the Yavoriv District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (RTC and SP).

### Circumstances of the discovery of the body

According to official information from the press service of the Lviv Regional Recruitment and Social Support Center, the incident occurred in the morning hours. Around 07:30, the duty shift of the first department of the Yavoriv RTC found a colleague dead in the office. An investigative and operational police group, as well as representatives of the military prosecutor's office, were immediately called to the scene to conduct a preliminary examination.

### Preliminary version of the investigation

Law enforcement agencies and the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region have entered the event into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. At the moment, the main version of the investigation is suicide. During the preliminary examination of the scene, investigators did not find visible signs of a struggle or signs of violent death.

To establish the exact causes of death, a complex of forensic medical examinations has been appointed. The investigation is ongoing, and all circumstances of the incident are under the close attention of law enforcement agencies.

### Command reaction and internal investigation

Based on the order of the head of the Lviv Regional Recruitment and Social Support Center, a special commission has been created to conduct a parallel service and special investigation. The goal of the commission's work is to establish all motives and circumstances of the emergency incident.

The leadership of the Lviv Regional Recruitment and Social Support Center has declared readiness for full cooperation with the investigation to exclude any speculation in the information space. The commission plans to publish the first conclusions regarding the death of the serviceman in the coming days.

Incidents in the structures of territorial recruitment centers have traditionally been under the close attention of Ukrainian society and human rights defenders. The Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Lubynets, previously noted that his department is aware of several high-profile cases of deaths in recruitment premises that require thorough investigation.

Military analysts note that the personnel of rear units and recruitment centers experience significant psychological stress against the backdrop of ongoing defense reforms and the tightening of mobilization measures. Recruitment center employees face a high level of public tension, which can affect their psycho-emotional state.
