# Summer gets cheaper: prices for potatoes, strawberries, and cherries drop sharply in Ukraine

The Ukrainian fresh produce market is experiencing significant changes. Analysts are recording a rapid decline in prices for a range of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and berries. Over the past week, consumers and wholesalers have observed a noticeable drop in the cost of new potatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, and cherries.

Data provided by the EastFruit project and published by RBC-Ukraine indicates that the trend of falling prices has covered a significant portion of the assortment in vegetable stalls and supermarkets.

### Potatoes and vegetables: who is getting cheaper and who is getting more expensive

The most dramatic changes have occurred in the potato segment. The wholesale price of new potatoes, which is traditionally a delicacy at the start of the season, has decreased. If on June 5 the price was between 50 and 80 hryvnias per kilogram, by June 12 the range had dropped to 35–65 hryvnias.

However, the situation with last year's harvest is developing differently. Old potatoes, on the contrary, have become more expensive: the price rose from 12–16 hryvnias to 13–16 hryvnias per kilogram.

Other popular vegetables also showed dynamics:

    - **New beets:** the price stabilized in the range of 30–40 hryvnias (previously — 33–35 hryvnias).

    - **Bell peppers:** the minimum price dropped from 130 to 125 hryvnias per kg.

    - **Peking cabbage:** the cost decreased from 33–38 hryvnias to 30–37 hryvnias.

    - **Greens:** a decrease in prices for parsley, dill, and lettuce is observed.

### Fruits and berries: cherry leadership and blueberry price growth

In the fruit and berry segment, the picture is mixed. The starting price for pears dropped from 50–80 hryvnias to 45–80 hryvnias per kilogram. At the same time, the cost of blueberries is showing growth: the maximum price rose from 650 to 700 hryvnias per kg, although the minimum threshold remained at the level of 500 hryvnias.

The main event of the week was the change in the balance of cherry supplies. This fruit remains the undisputed leader of the segment. EastFruit experts note an important shift: for the first time in the current season, the supply of domestically produced cherries exceeded the volume of imports from Uzbekistan.

In addition, watermelons from Kazakhstan appeared on the shelves, although this item has not yet entered the weekly sales top. The rating also featured new items that analysts highlighted as significant for the current moment.
