The Ukrainian government has decided to expand the list of individuals eligible for a one-time financial assistance payment. The new provisions concern those who suffered as a result of Russian aggression while working at critical infrastructure facilities. Additionally, the authorities have clarified the mechanism for calculating compensation and the conditions for supplementary payments.

The updated information was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity, Denys Shmyhal. As noted in the ministry's statement, critical infrastructure employees work daily under conditions of heightened danger, so the state support system must be as clear and fair as possible.

### Who is eligible for assistance

According to the new rules, the right to compensation belongs to individuals who suffered as a result of the Russian Federation's military aggression and who were at critical infrastructure facilities at the time of the incident. The updated list of recipients also includes:

    - employees of critical infrastructure operators;

    - civil servants;

    - officials of local self-government bodies.

### Clarifications on amounts and supplementary payments

The government has provided mechanisms to eliminate financial injustice in the event of a change in the victim's status. Now, if a person's disability group is changed after the disability is established, they will receive a supplementary payment up to the amount provided by legislation for the new disability group.

Furthermore, the state has committed to compensating the difference in cases where the victim or their family previously received a smaller payment for the same incident due to the operation of another calculation mechanism.

### Deadlines for exercising the right to payment

Special attention has been paid to timeframes. The right to receive such payments can be exercised not only during the martial law period but also within three years after its termination or cancellation.

It was previously reported that workers of critical infrastructure facilities who suffered while performing their official duties could already claim one-time state assistance. Now the legislation has become more flexible and takes into account various scenarios of events.
