# Svitolina at Roland Garros: Confident Quarterfinal Run and Looking Ahead

Elina Svitolina continues to demonstrate a high level of play on the courts of Roland Garros. In her third-round match, the Ukrainian easily defeated German tennis player Tamara Korpatsch, securing victory with a score of 6:2, 6:3. This success allowed Svitolina to become the second Ukrainian representative to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament.

### Tactical Victory Over the "Dark Horse"

Despite the fact that the opponents had not previously crossed paths in the WTA tour, the outcome of the match was predictable for analysts. Svitolina, ranked seventh, was considered an undisputed favorite against the 31-year-old German, who only returned to the top 100 this year. Korpatsch, known for her inconsistency, tried to impose tactical struggle, but the Ukrainian's class proved to be the deciding factor.

The first set began with intense competition, but at 2:2 Svitolina found the key to victory. She won four games in a row, leaving her opponent no chance to save. In the second set, Elina also showed character: trailing 0:2, she managed to turn the game around and take the lead 5:2, which determined the final result.

### One Step Away from Her Best Career Result

This victory holds special significance for the Odessa native. By reaching the quarterfinals, Svitolina is one step away from repeating her best achievement at Roland Garros — the quarterfinals, which she has reached five times in her career. Earlier, Marta Kostyuk had already advanced to this stage of the tournament, which was a pleasant bonus for Ukrainian tennis.

### Who's Next?

In the fourth round, Svitolina will face a crucial match against the winner of the Peyton Stearns (USA) — Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) pair. Bencic, the reigning Olympic champion and world No. 11, looks like a more dangerous opponent, but Svitolina is ready for a serious fight. American Stearns, meanwhile, has already proven her strength by defeating Daria Snigur in Paris.
