Twenty-year-old Ukrainian winger for the Canadian club Montreal, Hennadii Synchuk, scored in a regular season MLS match against the Seattle Sounders. This goal allowed the product of Kharkiv football to rise to the third spot in the list of the most prolific Ukrainian players in the history of the North American league, Sport RBC.UA reports. ### A spectacular goal from a counterattack Synchuk started for Montreal and made his mark as early as the 13th minute of the match. The ball delivery and the development of the attack were entirely orchestrated by the Ukrainian: he initiated the ball recovery in his own half, organized a swift counterattack, and personally finished it with an accurate strike from the edge of the penalty area. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Synchuk playing the full 90 minutes. ### Montreal fails to hold the lead Despite the early and precise strike from the Ukrainian legionnaire, the hosts failed to preserve the winning score. In the second half, Sebastian Gomez equalized, scoring the only goal for Seattle. The final result was 1-1, with Synchuk playing the entire match and remaining one of the most active players on the pitch. ### Third place in the history of Ukrainian MLS goalscorers The goal was Synchuk's second of the current season and his third overall during his time in MLS. Thanks to this, the 20-year-old midfielder climbed to the third position on the list of the best Ukrainian goalscorers in league history, trailing only two compatriots who have scored more goals throughout their careers in American football. ### From Metalist to the Ukrainian national team As a reminder, Hennadii Synchuk moved to Montreal from Metalist Kharkiv in January 2025. This spring, the talented midfielder received his maiden call-up to the Ukrainian national team and has already played his first match for the country's senior side in a duel against Poland, which became an important milestone in his professional development. ### Context: Ukrainians in North American and European football Synchuk's success fits into the general trend of rising efficiency among Ukrainian legionnaires abroad. It was previously reported that Illia Zabarnyi scored his first goal of the season for Paris Saint-Germain. The combination of these events highlights that Ukrainian footballers continue to score regularly in the world's top leagues, and MLS is becoming an increasingly prominent platform for their career growth. ## Fact-Check & Sources - [Как в бильярдную лузу: украинец забил эффектный гол в чемпионате МЧС (видео)](https://sport.rbc.ua/ukr/football/k-bilyardnu-luzu-ukrayinets-zabiv-efektniy-1792316717.html) - The source contains all key facts: Synchuk's 13th-minute goal, the 1-1 score, Sebastian Gomez's goal for Seattle, third place in Ukrainian MLS goalscorers, January 2025 transfer from Metalist, and national team debut against Poland. ## FAQ ### Who did Hennadii Synchuk score against in the MLS match?
