# Kremlin Plans vs. Frontline Reality: Oleksandr Syrskyi on Russia's Strategic Goals and Current Situation

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has voiced alarming data regarding the strategic intentions of the Russian army. According to information published by RBK-Ukraine, the enemy continues to plan large-scale offensive operations despite current difficulties on the front.

### Strategic Goals of the Aggressor

Syrskyi emphasized that the enemy cannot be underestimated: a turning point in the war is still far off. According to command assessments, Russia has not abandoned plans for the full occupation of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Furthermore, the aggressor is striving to expand offensive actions in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Special attention in the report is paid to the northern regions of Ukraine. The Russian command is focused on creating and expanding a so-called "buffer zone" in this sector, which indicates an attempt to consolidate control over new territories and secure the rear.

### Escalation of Violence and Methods of Warfare

The situation on the front is exacerbated by an increase in the intensity of attacks. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are recording an increase in the number of missile-drone strikes and the use of guided aerial bombs. Additionally, there is a rise in crimes against the civilian population, which threatens the safety of civilians in frontline zones.

### Tactical Picture: Retreat of the Offensive Impetus

Despite ambitious plans, the reality on the battlefield demonstrates a decrease in the activity of the Russian army. If previously Russian troops carried out active offensive operations on 13 operational directions, the number has now decreased to 6-7. The pace of the enemy's advance has decreased by more than half.

An important indicator of the changing situation is the ratio of assault actions. At the moment, the balance has shifted in favor of Russian forces: for every 40% of active actions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there are 60% of actions by the Russian army. This indicates that the initiative has not yet fully passed to the Ukrainian side, but the enemy's pace has slowed significantly.

### Experience of 2026 and Prospects

Oleksandr Syrskyi cited the example of a large-scale offensive that Russia attempted to conduct in 2026. Despite an almost double advantage in personnel and equipment, the enemy failed to achieve any of the set goals. This experience confirms that numerical superiority is not a guarantee of success against organized resistance.

The Commander-in-Chief assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are consistently increasing their capabilities. The main goal is to give the enemy a worthy rebuttal and, ultimately, force the Kremlin to go for a just peace on Ukraine's terms.
