# Taganrog under attack: drone strikes at night and fires at the port and aviation college

Throughout the night in Taganrog, explosions and sirens did not subside. The city came under drone attack, resulting in fires at two strategically important locations — in the port area and near the aviation college.

According to local residents and information published in OSINT channels, the fire engulfed the port terminal of the company "KurganNefteprodukt" (formerly known as "Yugtransitservice"). This is a key enterprise responsible for the unloading and loading of oil products onto sea vessels. A fire here could deal a serious blow to fuel supply logistics.

The second fire was recorded in the area of the Taganrog Aviation College named after V.M. Petlyakov. This was reported by the head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, Petr Andryuschenko. The educational institution trains specialists for the aviation and machine-building industries of the Rostov region, so damage to the infrastructure could have long-term consequences for regional industry.

### History of strikes on Taganrog

This is far from the first attack on the city. On the night of May 30, Unmanned Systems Forces already struck the military airfield in Taganrog, destroying an "Iskander" missile complex and two Tu-142 aircraft. Those events revealed the vulnerability of military objects in the region to modern weapons.

### General context: strikes on energy infrastructure

The night attack on Taganrog fits into the general picture of intensified strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. As of the end of June 2026, Ukrainian drones have successfully hit eight of the ten largest oil refineries in Russia. These strikes have significantly undermined total oil refining volumes, creating problems for logistics and supply.

The events in Taganrog demonstrate that strikes are shifting not only in depth of territory but also in the type of targets — from purely military objects to critical infrastructure and educational centers related to defense production.
