In Kyiv, on one of the city's busiest sections, a new traffic organization scheme has come into effect. Near the 'Lukyanivska' metro station, a regulated overhead pedestrian crossing has officially opened. This decision was a forced measure after Russian shelling caused serious damage to the underground passage and the station vestibule.

### Technical Features of the New Crossing

According to the Kyiv City State Administration's Department of Transport Infrastructure, a complex traffic light system has been deployed at the site where the underground passage previously functioned. The new facility includes four vehicle traffic lights and two pedestrian ones. Special attention has been paid to the safety of people with visual impairments: pedestrian traffic lights are equipped with audio accompaniment to help navigate the road.

### Operating Mode: Day and Night

The operation of the crossing has its own specifics depending on the time of day. During the day, when there is heavy traffic and a large flow of people on the street, the traffic light operates in automatic coordination mode. This allows for uninterrupted regulation of flows and ensures safety for all road users.

The night operating mode, effective from 22:00 to 06:00, is organized differently. During this time, pedestrians must independently initiate the green signal by pressing a special call button. Only after the button is activated will the traffic light switch, opening the way for a safe crossing.

### Recommendations for Drivers and Pedestrians

City authorities are urging all road users to comply with the new rules. Drivers are strongly advised to slow down in advance when approaching the crossing and strictly follow traffic light signals. Pedestrians are reminded to cross the road only on a green signal. At night, it is important to use the call button and be extremely attentive to road conditions.

### Temporary Nature of the Solution

It is important to understand that the overhead crossing is a temporary measure. It was organized in a hurry following the destructive consequences of Russian shelling that occurred on July 19. Once the restoration work on the underground passage and station vestibule is completed, the traffic organization scheme in this area will be reviewed, and traffic will return to the usual mode.
