# The 'People's Bar': The Perth Mint Sets a New World Record for Gold Weight and Purity

In the world of jewelry art and metallurgy, an event has occurred that can truly be called a triumph of the Australian industry. The Perth Mint has officially set a new world record by creating a gold bar that surpassed all previous achievements not only in weight but also in the unique purity of the metal.

### Technical Achievement: 521 kg of 'Five Nines' Gold

The new record holder, named the 'People's Bar', weighs 521.2 kg. This value significantly exceeds the previous world record set in 2024 by the mint in Dubai (UAE), where the bar weighed 300 kg. However, the main feature of the Perth product lies not in its dimensions, but in its chemical composition.

Experts have assessed the purity of the gold at 99.999%. In professional circles, this figure is called 'five nines'. For comparison, the generally accepted industry standard for purity is 99.99%. The Perth Mint emphasizes that only a handful of refineries in the world possess the technology to achieve such a degree of purification. According to the company's CEO, Paul Graham, this became an outstanding technical achievement following years of developing new refining methods.

### Creation Process Under Guinness Supervision

The idea of creating a unique bar was proposed by the mint's management about a year ago. The project turned into a large-scale operation: more than 35 experts were involved in the work. The manufacturing process took three days and took place under the strict control of representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records, who personally observed every stage to confirm the legitimacy of the record.

All the gold mass was mined exclusively in Australia, which underscores the status of the item as a national treasure. The bar was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest gold bar in the world.

### Economic Assessment and Exhibition

The estimated market value of the 'People's Bar' exceeds 100 million Australian dollars (about 65 million US dollars). However, experts note that it is difficult to name an exact price due to the exceptional uniqueness of the object. The goal of the project was not to sell the metal, but to demonstrate technological capabilities and promote the Australian gold mining industry.

In the near future, the giant bar will be put on public display at the Perth Mint. It will take its place next to another famous exhibit — a one-ton gold coin that set a world record back in 2011.

### Australia's Gold Export

The appearance of the record-breaking bar comes against the backdrop of rising global prices for precious metals. The Australian Minerals Council forecasts a significant increase in gold exports from the country. It is expected that export revenue will increase from 47 billion Australian dollars in the 2024–2025 financial year to 60 billion in 2025–2026.

If these forecasts come true, gold will become Australia's second largest export commodity, second only to iron ore. The creation of the 'People's Bar' became a vivid illustration of how important gold mining is for the country's economy.
