# Summer 2026: Three Scenarios for Food Price Growth in Ukraine — from 5% to 25%

Summer 2026 in Ukraine could become a time of serious challenges for family budgets. Analysts forecast that the cost of the food basket will increase by 5% to 25% compared to last year. The final figure will depend on which of the three possible scenarios materializes in the market.

### Why prices are rising: logistics and harvest

Maxim Gopka, an expert from the Ukrainian Club of Agribusiness (UKAB), notes that seasonal vegetables will not be able to fully curb inflation. Costs are influenced by rising logistics, increasing electricity and fuel prices, as well as losses in the fruit and berry harvest. Furthermore, producers continue to face high costs, which inevitably reflects in the final price.

### Current situation and summer forecast

Oleg Pendzin, Executive Director of the Economic Discussion Club, reports that the food basket has already become 9.5% more expensive. However, he forecasts that prices will start to decrease in the summer, as seasonal vegetables and fruits will become more affordable.

### State Statistics Service data: 13.3% growth

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine confirms the price increase. From March 2025 to April 2026, food prices rose by 13.3%. These data do not include temporarily occupied territories and regions where hostilities are taking place.

### What to expect next

Three scenarios for the development of events:

- Optimistic: price growth of 5% due to a bountiful harvest and stable logistics.

- Realistic: cost increase of 10-15% due to rising producer costs.

- Pessimistic: price surge up to 25% in case of a poor harvest and a sharp increase in fuel costs.

Ukrainians should be prepared for the fact that the summer of 2026 will require a review of the family budget. It is important to monitor price dynamics and plan purchases in advance.
