# Thunderstorms over Kyiv: Meteorologists warn of squalls and hail in central Ukraine

Severe weather is approaching over the capital of Ukraine and surrounding areas. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has officially warned residents about the approach of powerful thunderstorms expected in the coming hours.

According to the forecast, storm activity will be observed over Kyiv and the Kyiv region until the end of the day on June 23. Meteorologists link this event to the passage of a cold atmospheric front moving across the entire country from north to south.

### Scale of the phenomenon

The bad weather is not limited to the capital region alone. Thunderstorms accompanied by squally winds and hail are expected in most of the central, southern, and western regions of Ukraine. The day before, meteorologists declared a yellow danger level for the western and northern regions, warning of approaching adverse conditions.

### Consequences for infrastructure

Experts note that such weather conditions may create serious difficulties for the operation of urban infrastructure. The following are at risk:

- Energy enterprises, which will have to operate under conditions of increased load and risk of accidents;

- Construction and utility services, whose work on open sites may be complicated;

- The transport system, where movement may be hindered due to reduced visibility and weather conditions.
