The closing of the 2026 summer transfer window left several prominent Ukrainian players outside professional football. Among the free agents are experienced players who have previously played for the national team, as well as talents who failed to meet club expectations. The market is dictating harsh conditions, forcing many of them to maintain fitness individually while waiting for offers. ### Key Figures on the Free Agent Market One of the most discussed figures is a former English Premier League player. His career following his move to the Dutch championship was marred by a serious injury. Despite rumors of interest from La Liga clubs, the player's high salary demands limit the pool of potential suitors. In current realities, a return to England or a move to the MLS appear to be the most likely scenarios for continuing his career by early 2027. ### Contradictory Data Ambiguity persists regarding the situation of forward Oleksiy Hutsulyak. The player's agents claimed serious interest from Champions League participants, yet in practice, the only confirmed option was the Turkish club Kocaelispor. The deal fell through due to financial disagreements. While the player's entourage speaks of "high goals," independent experts point to inflated salary expectations as the primary reason for his prolonged inactivity. ### Career Decline and Uncertainty The situations of Artem Besedin and Viktor Kovalenko illustrate the challenges players face when trying to balance league level with financial ambitions. Besedin is even considering the possibility of retirement or transitioning into a coaching role in the lower divisions of Spain. Meanwhile, players such as Bohdan Lednev and Vladyslav Kalitvintsev remain in search of new teams after failed attempts to secure spots in UPL clubs.
