The night of August 1st proved fatal for a young law enforcement officer. During a repeated massive strike on the capital of Ukraine, 22-year-old patrol police officer Yegor Terekhin was killed. The tragic news was confirmed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Vygovsky, who spoke of an "irreparable loss" for the Ministry of Internal Affairs system.

### Service and Heroism

Yegor Terekhin's service history was short, but heroic. He joined the police force only a year ago, and just over a month ago began performing patrol duties specifically in Kyiv. At the moment of the missile attack, the young officer did not hide in a shelter but remained at the scene, providing first aid to the injured and saving wounded civilians.

### Scale of the Attack

On the night of August 1st, Russian forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles. According to law enforcement data, nine people were killed as a result of the attack, and another 30 were injured, including four children.

Damage and fires were recorded in five districts of the capital:

- Solomianskyi;

- Darnytskyi;

- Shevchenkivskyi;

- Dniprovskyi;

- Pecherskyi.

The death of Yegor Terekhin became one of the heaviest losses on this list, symbolizing the price Ukrainian society pays for the protection of its citizens.
