# Trump cancels strike on Iran at the last moment: 'Locked and loaded', but peace is more valuable

On the eve of a massive military strike that was set to shake the Middle East, the situation in the region took a sharp turn. US President Donald Trump officially announced the cancellation of the attack on Iran scheduled for this weekend. The reason for this decision was the emergency reaching of preliminary peace agreements, which could radically change the geopolitical map of the region.

### Power unseen since World War II

In his statement on the social network Truth Social, Trump revealed details of the operation's preparation. According to him, the US armed forces were in a state of full combat readiness — 'locked and loaded'. The US leader emphasized that the level of military power, strength, and intimidation concentrated against Iran had not been seen by the world since World War II.

However, despite the readiness to deliver a crushing blow, Washington decided on a pause. Trump explained this by the fact that Iran and other Middle Eastern countries asked him to postpone the attack. According to the president, the parties have already agreed on the main parameters of the deal.

### Key conditions of the deal: Strait of Hormuz and nuclear program

The essence of the proposed agreement boils down to two fundamental requirements, which, according to the White House, will become the guarantee of stability:

    - **Strait of Hormuz:** Immediate, complete, and final opening of the strategically important waterway for shipping.

    - **Nuclear threat:** Complete elimination of the nuclear threat from Iran.

Trump specifically noted that Israel is in solidarity with Washington in the decision to suspend the fire to give diplomacy a chance. Nevertheless, the naval blockade of Iranian ports by the US Navy will remain in force until the legal signing of all necessary documents.

### Behind the scenes: a call from Riyadh and fears for oil

Insiders report that this diplomatic maneuver is driven by tough pressure from allies. A key factor was the emergency telephone conversation between Donald Trump and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. Riyadh expressed deep concern that strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure could burn the entire region and crash the global oil market.

Earlier, Washington had already carried out a series of strikes in response to Iran's ballistic attack on a base in Qatar. The new strikes, scheduled for the weekend, were supposed to destroy Iran's power grid, but now this threat has been postponed for negotiations.

### Tehran's reaction: skepticism and warnings

Despite Trump's optimism, the reaction of official Tehran remains restrained. The state Iranian agency Fars has already called the proposed conditions a 'list of unrealistic wishes'. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned regional neighbors that any US assistance in the logistics of military operations will meet a strict proportional response. Negotiations mediated by third countries continue in closed mode.
