US President Donald Trump stated the high likelihood of passing a bill on massive sanctions against Russia. He announced this during a press conference, answering journalists' questions about the prospects of signing the document within the next one to two weeks.

The US leader emphasized that the initiative is a tribute to the late Senator Lindsey Graham. Trump noted that Graham desired this more than anything else, and now Washington is seriously considering implementing his idea.

### Expansion of the sanctions list

According to the President, the bill will undergo significant changes and be expanded. The list of targets for restrictions is planned to include not only Russia but also Iran and the Lebanese movement "Hezbollah".

"They are going to add Iran, and that will be a very serious step if they do. They might add 'Hezbollah' as well," Trump added, commenting on possible additions to the text of the document.

### The essence of Graham's initiative

The bill, which Lindsey Graham worked on jointly with Senator Richard Blumenthal for almost two years, received a new impetus after the death of its author. The White House has already declared its readiness to support this initiative.

The essence of the proposal is to grant the head of state broad powers for economic pressure on Moscow. The document provides for the introduction of high tariffs and sanctions against countries that continue to purchase Russian oil and gas. In addition, restrictions will apply to foreign companies and states that assist Russia in circumventing the sanctions regime.

Back in Kyiv, during a briefing on July 10, Graham noted that new restrictions are intended to strengthen the position of the US President and contribute to the speedy end of the war in Ukraine. Now, judging by Trump's statements, this goal may be realized in the near future.
