The situation in the Middle East has escalated to the breaking point. US President Donald Trump has officially confirmed that the ceasefire with Iran is no longer in effect, despite requests from Tehran to resume dialogue.

### Official Position of Washington

In his statement, cited by RBK-Ukraine, the head of the White House outlined the position of the United States. The Islamic Republic of Iran approached the American side with a proposal to continue negotiations. Washington formally agreed to the dialogue, however, it made it clear that the temporary lull in the conflict has ended.

"We agreed to this, but the United States made it clear to them that the ceasefire is over," Trump emphasized.

The decision to cancel the ceasefire regime was announced by the president on July 8. The reason for such a harsh reaction, according to the American leader, was attacks by the Iranian regime on merchant vessels. In response to these actions, the US launched large-scale military operations.

On the night of July 9, US military forces struck targets in Iran. This marks the second consecutive day that Washington has used force. According to the US side, approximately a hundred targets were hit as a result of the attacks.

Following the new wave of strikes, Tehran reached out to Washington and proposed concluding an agreement.
