# Graham Sanctions: Trump Ready to Sign, But Not Rushing

A tense political struggle is unfolding in Washington over a new package of restrictions for Moscow. US President Donald Trump has not yet expressed full support for the bill on new sanctions against Russia, although he has not completely rejected it either.

### Political Compromise in Memory of the Senator

As reported by journalists, the head of the White House is not yet ready to publicly declare his unconditional support for the initiative. Nevertheless, Trump has indicated that he intends to sign the document. He links this decision to the memory of the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who, along with his Democratic counterpart Richard Blumenthal, spent months working to strengthen sanctions pressure on the Kremlin.

Donald Trump himself, in recent statements, acknowledged that the adoption of the bill on new sanctions looks like a quite likely scenario. However, despite this, the promotion of this initiative is not among his priorities, which creates some uncertainty regarding the implementation timeline.

### Critical Mass of Votes and Bureaucratic Barriers

The situation in the Senate is developing rapidly. As of July 17, more than 60 senators have expressed support for Graham's "hellish sanctions." In fact, this means that the bill has gathered enough votes to successfully pass through the upper house of Congress.

Despite political support, a serious obstacle remains — the deadline for considering the document has not yet been determined. While the White House has declared its readiness to support such a sanctions initiative, the mechanisms of its implementation and specific dates of entry into force remain a subject of discussion.

Previously, the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU) revealed details on how the US "hellish sanctions" mechanism against the Russian Federation would work, while specialized publications, such as RBK-Ukraine, have already analyzed the content of Graham's bill in detail.
