## 🎯 Key Points

- Witkoff and Kushner postponed their trip to Moscow
- US awaits Ukraine and Europe stance on the new plan
- Energy truce was violated immediately after announcement
- Ukraine intends to strengthen work with European partners

US President Donald Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have decided to postpone a previously planned diplomatic trip to Moscow. This move by the American side demonstrates a shift in Washington's tactics amid ongoing armed conflict and unsuccessful attempts to launch a sustainable negotiation process between the involved parties. ### Reasons for Postponing the Visit and US Stance

According to credible sources, the key reason for freezing the trip was the lack of a clear and consolidated response from Ukraine and European allies. Washington aims to understand whether Kyiv and EU capitals are ready to support a new peace proposal addressed to the Russian leadership. American diplomats expect to form a unified Western position before resuming high-level contacts with the Kremlin to avoid diplomatic failures.

### Energy Truce and Its Breakdown

The situation escalated after US President announced a temporary energy truce between Ukraine and Russia on October 11, 2026. However, the agreements were almost immediately violated by the Russian side. White House representatives explained to journalists that the initial plan was to introduce a moratorium exclusively on strikes against oil refineries, after which the ceasefire was supposed to be extended to other critical energy infrastructure facilities. ### Kyiv's Reaction and Diplomatic Plans

Commenting on the current situation and the expediency of further negotiations with the US administration, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the Ukrainian side intends to use absolutely any real opportunity to achieve a just peace. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed that the current week will be dedicated to intensive interaction with European partners to develop additional pressure measures on Moscow.

### Contradictory Data

In covering this diplomatic maneuver, Western and Russian media show certain discrepancies regarding the details of the peace plan. While American insider sources emphasize waiting for a response specifically from European and Ukrainian allies regarding a single initiative, Russian media resources tend to interpret the postponement of Witkoff and Kushner's visit as a pause caused by Washington's reluctance to make concessions without prior fulfillment of Moscow's conditions.
