The US State Department has commented on the prospects of a visit to Ukraine by US President Donald Trump. The department's official spokesperson, Ian Baitsun, stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine that the White House has not yet ruled out this idea.

### No Refusal as a Sign of Interest

According to Baitsun, the very fact that Donald Trump has not categorically refused the offer to visit Kyiv indicates that the head of state is considering this step. "If Donald Trump hasn't said 'no', it means, of course, that he is thinking about it, he is deciding for himself," the State Department representative noted.

The department emphasizes that the decision lies within the competence of the President, who weighs all circumstances before making a final verdict.

### The Question of Security

Despite the lack of a direct refusal, the State Department acknowledges the existence of serious obstacles. The key factor influencing the decision remains security. Baitsun reminded that this topic is particularly sensitive for sitting Presidents of the United States.

"He has, of course, spoken about security; he knows that this could be a problem, especially for sitting Presidents of the United States," the diplomat emphasized.

### History of the Invitation

The invitation to visit the Ukrainian capital was extended to Donald Trump during the NATO summit in Ankara on July 8. The meeting between the Presidents of the US and Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, took place on a positive note. According to Baitsun, Trump received the proposal but did not give an immediate answer, limiting himself to discussing the current situation.

"He received the invitation, it was a good meeting, and he didn't say 'no, I won't', he just talked about the situation as it is. So let's see how it goes," the State Department representative concluded.
