# Two types of heating and one subsidy: how the Pension Fund of Ukraine calculates assistance for combined heating

In the run-up to the heating season, many Ukrainian families face the need to optimize utility expenses. For those using combined heating systems, the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) has clarified important nuances regarding the receipt of housing subsidies. It turns out that having two types of fuel in a house is not an automatic obstacle to receiving state assistance.

### What the subsidy covers for mixed heating

According to explanations from fund specialists, the housing subsidy is not limited solely to paying bills for centralized heating or natural gas. State support also extends to expenses related to the purchase of solid or liquid stove fuel, as well as liquefied gas. This rule applies to households that are not connected to centralized heating networks.

If a household uses several heat sources at once — for example, a gas boiler as the main source and a wood stove as auxiliary — the right to a subsidy is determined individually. The key factor here is the actual method of heating the housing, confirmed by relevant documents.

### How to submit documents

The procedure for submitting a subsidy application remains flexible and convenient for citizens. Applicants can choose the most suitable method for contacting the Pension Fund:

- Personal visit to a PFU service center;

- Application through Administrative Services Centers (TsNAP);

- Mailing documents;

- Online submission via the PFU electronic services web portal or the «Diia» portal.

### Important conditions and changes

The PFU reminds citizens of the need to maintain transparency regarding fuel usage. If the method of heating the housing changes after the subsidy is assigned, or if the family begins using a different type of fuel, the fund must be notified immediately.

Such changes may affect the right to receive state assistance or adjust its amount. Ignoring this rule may lead to recalculation of payments or refusal to provide a subsidy in the future.

Previously, experts pointed out that family income directly affects the payment amount and warned about the risks of losing subsidies in 2026 for certain categories of citizens.
