World football is experiencing one of its most acute crises in history. FIFA President Gianni Infantino finds himself at the epicenter of a political storm that threatens his position. According to the authoritative publication The Telegraph, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has issued an ultimatum to the head of world football: resign voluntarily or face an official vote of no confidence.

### Unanimous Front Against Infantino

The scale of the confrontation is unprecedented. All 55 national associations of UEFA, including football giants such as England, Italy, and Spain, have united in a single front against the FIFA president. At an emergency meeting, European officials voted for a hardline stance, threatening a complete boycott of FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, if the privatization plan is not fully canceled.

The legal weight of UEFA in this matter is colossal. According to the FIFA statutes (Article 25, Section 4), convening an emergency congress and initiating a vote of no confidence requires the consent of just 20% of member countries (43 votes out of 211). The European bloc, possessing 55 votes, has enough weight on its own to initiate the procedure to remove Infantino.

### The Essence of the Conflict: Selling World Cup Rights

The cause of the global scandal was Infantino's secret initiative to create a commercial structure called FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). The FIFA President planned to attract $4.2 billion from private investors by selling them a 20–30% stake. In exchange, investors would gain control over revenues from television broadcasts and sponsorship contracts for the World Cup — both men's and women's. The total value of this structure was estimated at $20 billion.

UEFA called this deal an "attempt to sell the soul of football" and stated that "the World Cup is not for sale." European officials saw this as a threat to the independence of football and an attempt by private capital to seize control of the sport's greatest asset.

### The American Connection and Rebellion Within FIFA

The situation was exacerbated by the fact that the main potential investor was a consortium led by Joshua Kushner — an American venture capitalist and brother of the son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump. This raised suspicions of a "quiet privatization" of European football by American capital. Notably, Donald Trump himself later stated that he was not consulted on this plan.

Infantino conducted negotiations behind the back of his own executive committee, leading to a rift within the organization. In protest, his senior advisor Carlos Cordeiro resigned, calling the deal "terrible for football." FIFA General Secretary Kevin Lamour publicly stated that the leadership had "deceived" employees and that the project was pushed forward unilaterally.

### Crisis of Trust and Consequences

Realizing the scale of the catastrophe, Gianni Infantino made an emergency U-turn and officially withdrew his project, admitting that it "caused a rift." However, UEFA stated that this was not enough: trust has been completely lost, and "simply sweeping it under the rug" will not work. The official statement emphasizes that "the current FIFA leadership has definitively lost the trust of the football family".

The campaign to oust Infantino has officially launched. Opposition to privatization came not only from Europeans but also from the Asian (AFC) and North American (CONCACAF) confederations. Infantino is effectively left in isolation, having lost the majority among FIFA's 211 member countries.
