A diplomatic breakthrough, anticipated for months, has finally occurred. Ukraine and Hungary have officially announced a transition to a new chapter in their bilateral relations. This event, which could be pivotal for Kyiv's future membership in the European Union, was confirmed at the highest level.

### Minister's Statement: A Course Towards Trust

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybyga, commenting on the situation on the social network X, emphasized the importance of the agreements reached. In his statement, he expressed gratitude to Cyprus for its leadership in promoting Ukraine's EU accession process, but paid special attention to the role of Budapest.

"I also highly appreciate Hungary's constructive participation. We are opening a new page in relations between Ukraine and Hungary — a page based on mutual respect, trust, and our common European future. Ukraine is moving forward," stated the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement also included thanks to all European Union member states, as well as the European Commission and EU institutions, for their support, which made it possible to achieve this result.

### Agreement Details: Rights of the Hungarian Community

The foundation for this diplomatic rapprochement was an agreement reached the day before, on February 3. Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar confirmed that the parties had agreed on the issue of the rights of the Hungarian minority. This topic had long been a stumbling block in negotiations regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU.

After several weeks of intensive consultations, Kyiv and Budapest reached a comprehensive agreement. The document concerns the expansion of rights for the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia in four key areas:

    - Linguistic rights;

    - Education;

    - Culture;

    - Political representation.

The negotiations involved not only state experts but also representatives of political organizations of the Hungarian minority, as well as religious figures, indicating a comprehensive approach to solving the problem.

### Legislative Changes

Péter Magyar noted that the Ukrainian government has committed to introducing the agreed-upon legislative changes in the near future. According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, these steps will allow the Hungarian community to obtain broader rights, removing Budapest's main objections and paving the way for Ukraine's further integration into European structures.
