# Ukraine automates military ID checks for applicants: how it works from July 10

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in partnership with the Ministry of Defense, has implemented a new mechanism for controlling military registration documents (MRD) as part of the admission campaign. As of July 10, 2026, the verification of the status of conscripts and military personnel is carried out automatically through the Unified State Electronic Database on Education Issues (USEDE).

### How the new system works

The essence of the innovation lies in the information interaction between the education registry and the Unified State Registry of Conscripts, Military Personnel, and Reservists. Now, as soon as an applicant submits their first application through the electronic cabinet, the system initiates an automatic data verification. This significantly simplifies the admission procedure, eliminating the need for manual collection and rechecking of paper documents at the initial stage.

However, the mechanism also provides for manual control. If an educational institution needs to clarify data, it can re-run the check using the "Check MRD" function in the USEDE interface.

### Who is subject to the check

The new rules primarily regulate the enrollment process for male citizens of Ukraine aged 17 and older. Additionally, automatic checks affect female citizens of the same age who plan to apply for specialties related to military service or those with gender restrictions.

An important exception has been made for applicants from temporarily occupied territories (TOT). Applicants from these regions who have confirmed special admission conditions in the USEDE database are exempt from the mandatory successful MRD check for enrollment. In the event of the cancellation of martial law, such applicants will be granted a seven-day grace period to complete military registration in accordance with the legislation.

### Check statuses and applicant actions

The result of the check is displayed in the applicant's personal cabinet. A successful status is one that confirms the presence of data in the registry. If the system gives the status "In process of checking" or reports an error, it is recommended to wait some time.

If the status does not update within three days, the applicant should contact the admissions committee. If the system reports the absence of a Taxpayer Identification Number (RNOKPP), errors in personal data, or the inability to identify the person, the educational institution is obliged to take measures to eliminate these discrepancies.
