## 🎯 Key Points

- Ukrainian body armor manufacturers have transitioned from imports to domestic production
- Rarog Armor is the only company in Ukraine producing military-standard ceramic armor plates
- The use of Israeli polyethylene and Italian equipment improves product quality
- The importance of balancing protection and comfort in body armor design
- Future prospects include the implementation of exoskeletons and other innovations

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Russian armed forces have witnessed a radical transformation of Ukraine's defense industry. If in 2022 Ukrainian body armor manufacturers were forced to rely exclusively on imported materials, today the situation has changed beyond recognition. Rarog Tactical Gear, one of the leaders in the tactical equipment market, demonstrates the path from complete dependence on foreign supplies to the creation of its own high-tech solutions.

## Transformation of Supply Chains

In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, representatives of Rarog Tactical Gear spoke about the massive changes in the production of protective gear. "In 2022, our company used only foreign fabrics and materials. If we are talking about fabrics, today these are predominantly Ukrainian or American materials. They have already passed testing, certification, and meet certain military standards," the company's specialists emphasized.

This transition was neither simple nor quick. Ukrainian manufacturers had to not only find reliable suppliers but also adapt their production lines to new requirements and undergo complex certification procedures to guarantee compliance with international military standards.

## Ceramic Armor Plates: A Breakthrough in Production

One of the key achievements was the mastery of producing military-standard ceramic armor plates. Rarog Armor became the only company in Ukraine to produce such plates using a modern Italian autoclave. This equipment allows for the creation of products with specified strength and lightness characteristics, which is critical for the protection of military personnel.

"Today, ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene is generally brought in from the USA, Europe, China, and Israel. We use one of the best polyethylenes in the world – Israeli material," Rarog added. The choice of material is crucial for the characteristics of the body armor, as the same product with different types of ballistic element stiffness can perform very differently.

### Contradictory Data

Although Rarog claims to be the only company in Ukraine producing military-standard ceramic armor plates, other sources indicate the presence of several manufacturers working in this area. For example, some independent experts note that other companies have also begun to master the production of similar products, although their volumes and quality may differ. Thus, the question of Rarog Armor's monopoly remains open and requires additional fact-checking.

## Balance Between Comfort and Protection

Body armor production is not just a matter of material selection, but also a delicate balance between protection and comfort. "You can create a body armor that is soft and comfortable, but by replacing only the ballistic layout, you can break the concept of the product," Rarog specialists explain. This means that even small changes in the design can significantly affect the effectiveness of protection.

The company also pays attention to ergonomics and adapting equipment for different tasks. For example, recently the Defense Procurement Agency purchased 2,000 female modular body armors, indicating growing attention to the individual needs of military personnel. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has already published recommendations on choosing the size and using such products.

## Development Prospects

The Ukrainian defense industry continues to develop, and companies like Rarog Tactical Gear play a key role in this process. The use of advanced technologies, such as Israeli polyethylene and Italian autoclaves, allows for the creation of world-class products. At the same time, it is important to note that success depends not only on technology but also on the ability of manufacturers to quickly adapt to changing war conditions.

In the future, we can expect even greater implementation of innovations, including exoskeletons and other high-tech solutions that will help increase the survivability and effectiveness of Ukrainian military personnel. As experts note, it is precisely such projects that will form the basis for the future of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
