# Ukraine Border Guard outlines conditions for a real threat from Belarus: provocation scenarios and large-scale fortifications

Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, outlined specific conditions during a televised marathon under which the situation on the border with Belarus would become a real threat. According to him, danger arises only in the event of attempts to destabilize the situation directly along the border line and the organization of provocations.

### Large-scale strengthening of defense

Experts emphasize that the Defense Forces of Ukraine have already significantly strengthened their positions in the Belarusian direction, and these works are ongoing. Not only engineering units of the State Border Guard Service are involved in the process, but also the general Defense Forces, as well as local authorities.

All forces are united to increase engineering obstacles. Special attention is paid to destroying routes that could be used for movement across the border. In parallel, specialists are equipping modern video surveillance systems and erecting fortification structures.

### Mine and explosive obstacles and the containment zone

Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively increasing mine and explosive obstacles along directions considered most threatening. It was previously reported about the creation of a special ring containment zone on the border with Belarus. This large-scale work has been underway for some time and is developing in sync with the strengthening of engineering infrastructure.
