The Ukrainian men's national basketball team has finalized its preparation schedule for the start of the second decisive stage of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 qualifiers. In August, Ainars Bagatskis's team is set to play two friendly matches and two official qualifier games.

The national team players will gather on August 14 in Latvia. As part of the preparation, the Ukrainian team will hold two friendly matches to help the squad get into shape before the official games.

### Key dates and opponents

Following the friendly matches, the team will begin competing in the second round of European qualifiers. In the first nominally home game on August 28 in Riga, the Ukrainians will host the Greek national team. Ticket sales for this match are already open. Afterward, on August 31, the "blue-and-yellows" will face an away match against Montenegro in Podgorica.

### The road to the World Cup

Ukraine successfully navigated the first round, finishing 2nd in Group A (4 wins, 2 losses). With this result, the Ukrainian team advanced to the newly formed Group I, where, with a 4-2 record, they share the 2nd-3rd spot. To secure the coveted ticket to the World Championship, which will take place in Qatar in 2027, the Ukrainian national team must finish in the top three of the group.

### New faces in the roster

It was previously reported that Yegor Sushkin and Maksym Hryshchuk would be eligible for the Ukrainian national team. Their participation could become a crucial factor in the fight for high positions in the qualifying group.
