# Ukraine prepares for extreme heat: temperatures to rise to +40 degrees

A powerful heatwave is approaching Ukraine, which could become one of the most extreme in recent times. According to forecasts by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, starting from June 28, daytime air temperatures in several regions will reach critical levels, with thermometers rising to +40 degrees in some areas.

### Source of the anomaly and heatwave route

The cause of the sharp warming is the spread of hot air from northern Africa. Masses of heated air moved through southern and central Europe and reached Ukrainian territory. Meteorologists warn that the peak of the anomaly will fall between June 28 and 30.

### Regional forecasts

The situation is developing unevenly across the country. Already on Sunday, June 28, strong heat is expected in the western regions, as well as in the Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr regions. During these days, daytime temperatures will range from +35 to +38 degrees. In the following days, June 29 and 30, the zone of extreme temperatures will shift to the Right Bank of Ukraine.

Meteorologists are paying special attention to the western region of the country:

- **Volyn region:** The regional hydro-meteorology center reported that on June 28 and 29, daytime temperatures will reach +39 degrees.

- **Ternopil region:** The forecast here is even harsher. On June 29, daytime heating of the air is expected to reach +40 degrees.

### Consequences for infrastructure and the population

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns that such weather carries serious risks. Strong heat can significantly complicate the work of energy and utility enterprises, creating increased load on the networks. There is also a threat of disruption to railway and road transport.

In addition to technical difficulties, extreme temperatures will negatively affect the daily life of the population. Against the backdrop of the current situation, where air temperatures in the country have already risen to +34 degrees, the weekend will be a real test for residents.

Ukraine has found itself in a general zone of weather anomaly covering the continent. European countries are already taking emergency measures due to extreme heat. Meteorologists compare the current situation with one of the largest and most tragic heatwaves in the modern history of the European Union, highlighting the seriousness of the impending event.
