Ukrainian defense forces have received the first batch of the latest RH1412 artillery shells from the German defense giant Rheinmetall. This event marks an important stage in the ongoing military support for Kyiv from Germany and its industrial partners.

### New production front in Unterluss

As reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a company representative, deliveries are being made for the first time from the Rheinmetall plant located in the town of Unterluss. Previously, ammunition for the Ukrainian army was supplied from other facilities within the conglomerate's production network. This decision demonstrates the scaling of logistics chains and the involvement of new capacities in the process of supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

### Delivery volume and schedule

The company's press release clarifies that this refers to a "small five-digit number" of shells, although exact figures are not yet disclosed. Along with high-explosive shells, the Ukrainian side also received propelling charges manufactured at other Rheinmetall facilities.

Currently, more than 50% of the total order volume has been delivered. The remaining part of the contract is planned to be transferred by the end of 2026. Such a schedule indicates the long-term nature of cooperation and the need to increase production capacity to meet growing demand.

### Technological update and investment plans

The RH1412 shells represent the latest product in Rheinmetall's artillery portfolio. Their introduction into the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirms the desire of Western partners not just to maintain current volumes, but to modernize the technical base of Ukrainian artillery.

To meet the growing demand for modern 155mm ammunition and propelling charges, Rheinmetall continues to actively invest in expanding existing plants and building new production sites. The company positions itself as one of the world leaders in the production of large-caliber ammunition and maintains active cooperation with Ukraine.

### Financial context and legal risks

It was previously reported that Ukraine ordered shells from Rheinmetall worth tens of millions of euros. In parallel, Germany allocated 300 million euros to support the Czech initiative to purchase and supply ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which also indirectly supports the activities of German defense contractors.

However, not all processes are without difficulties. In particular, it has become known that Russia is demanding millions of euros from Rheinmetall through its own court, creating additional legal and reputational risks for the company in the context of the ongoing conflict.
