## 🎯 Key Points

- Finland is transferring F-16 ammunition to Ukraine
- The weaponry is crucial for shooting down jet-powered Shaheds
- Zelenskyy and Stubb discussed Russian strikes and oil revenues

In the coming days, Ukraine will receive a new military aid package from Finland, including specialized ammunition for F-16 fighter jets. This weaponry is critically important for the effective interception and destruction of modern jet-powered Shahed drones, which Russian forces increasingly use to strike Ukrainian infrastructure. This was announced following a phone call between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Finnish President Alexander Stubb in October 2026.

### The Significance of Finnish Assistance for Ukrainian Air Defense

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed special gratitude to the Finnish leadership for their continuous and prompt support of the Ukrainian skies. The supply of scarce ammunition for fighter aviation will significantly strengthen the country's layered air defense system. Given the modification of enemy strike drones with jet engines, standard defense methods require constant technological updates and prompt replenishment of arsenals.

### Diplomatic Dialogue and Countering Economic Aspects

In addition to arms supplies, during the negotiations, the leaders of the two states discussed in detail the scale of Russian air strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to the problem of bypassing sanctions and Russia generating additional revenues from petroleum product exports, which are used to finance military operations. The heads of state agreed on the need for further coordination of joint international steps and preparation for new diplomatic meetings.

### Context of Sourcing Scarce Resources for F-16s

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian military-political leadership has recently intensified efforts to source additional batches of missiles and ammunition for Western F-16 fighter jets. The integration of these aircraft into Ukraine's general air defense system continues, but the shortage of specialized ammunition remains one of the main challenges for the operational command. Finland's support demonstrates the unwavering commitment of European partners to ensuring the security of Ukraine's airspace ahead of the winter period of 2026.
