The Ukraine men's volleyball national team has officially entered the list of 32 teams that will compete at the 2027 World Championship. The global tournament will be held in Poland from September 10 to 26, 2027. This was reported by Sport RBC.UA citing the official website of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), which published the final list of tournament participants. For the Ukrainian team, this is the third consecutive and fourth overall appearance at the planet's main volleyball forum. ### How the Blue-and-Yellow Secured Their Berth Ukraine's qualification for the 2027 World Championship is the result of its position in the FIVB world rankings. The national team took 12th place in the ranking table and entered the top 15 best teams that did not qualify through continental tournaments. It was this mechanism — the distribution of spots by rankings for teams that did not secure licenses through regional championships — that determined the lineup of 32 participants. The final ranking-based list also included Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Serbia, Czech Republic, Greece, Romania, Netherlands, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Denmark, Egypt, and Estonia. ### Historical Context: Third Consecutive World Championship Appearance The upcoming tournament will be Ukraine's third consecutive and fourth overall appearance at World Championships. Previously, Ukrainian volleyball players competed in the global tournaments in 1998, 2022, and 2025. The team's best result at this level is reaching the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Championship. Thus, the Ukrainian volleyball school has firmly established itself among the elite and is consistently represented at major international competitions, which in itself is an indicator of the sustainable development of the national program. ### Tournament Format and Polish Venues The 2027 World Championship will be hosted by five Polish cities: Gdańsk, Katowice, Łódź, Olsztyn, and Kraków. Kraków will host the decisive semifinal matches and medal games. All 32 national teams will be divided into eight groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each quartet will advance to the playoff stage, after which the Round of 16 matches will begin. Such a format guarantees a tight and competitive schedule throughout the entire tournament. ### Olympic Stakes: The Road to Los Angeles 2028 Aside from the battle for the world title, the 2027 World Championship holds special significance in the context of qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Based on the competition results, the three best national teams that have not yet secured Olympic licenses will earn direct berths to the Games. This turns the tournament into a key stage of the Olympic cycle and increases its sporting and media importance for all participants, including Ukraine. ### Broader Context: Women's WCH and Current Team Form Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Russia will cross paths at the 2027 Women's Volleyball World Championship, which adds extra intrigue and fan attention to the tournament. Amid preparations for the world championship, the men's team continues an active competitive campaign in the European cycle, allowing players to build form and match fitness ahead of the main start of 2027. The official confirmation of participation in the FIVB list closes the question of the national team's status and allows the coaching staff to build a long-term preparation plan for the Polish World Championship. ## Fact-Check & Sources - [Официально: мужская сборная Украины по волейболу сыграет на чемпионате мира-2027](https://sport.rbc.ua/ukr/othersport/ofitsiyno-cholovicha-zbirna-ukrayini-voleybolu-1792418075.html) - Primary source: reference to official FIVB website, 12th place in ranking, dates Sept 10–26, 2027, five Polish cities, format of 8 groups of 4, Olympic licenses for 2028 Games, tournament history (1998, 2022, 2025), best result — 2022 WCH quarterfinals. - [ОФИЦИАЛЬНО.
