The Ukrainian women's freestyle wrestling team continues to confidently collect medals at the 2026 World Championships taking place in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. After Anastasia Alpieva brought the national team its first gold medal of the tournament in the 76 kg weight category, the "blue-and-yellows" guaranteed themselves at least one more top-tier medal. The key event of the day was the convincing performance of 22-year-old Natalia Klyvchutska, who fought her way into the finals and is now competing for gold. ### Klyvchutska's triumphant path to the final Natalia Klyvchutska passed through the tournament bracket without a single loss, starting her journey from the round of 16. In the opening stage, the Ukrainian confidently handled North Macedonian representative Veronika Konsevich, winning with a score of 4:0. The quarter-final held a much more difficult task — a confrontation with Russian wrestler Ekaterina Verbina. The bout was a tight contest, but Klyvchutska managed to snatch a 4:2 victory, demonstrating character and tactical flexibility. The semi-final match turned into a real triumph: Klyvchutska crushed European Championship bronze medalist Tuba Demir from Turkey, leaving her no chances with a 6:0 victory. ### First adult final of her career For the 22-year-old athlete, this final is the first of her career at an adult World Championship. In the decisive gold medal bout, Klyvchutska will face American Everest Leidecker, the reigning junior world champion (U-20). The gold medal match promises to be pivotal: on one side is the Ukrainian, experienced in adult competition series, and on the other is the young and ambitious American, for whom this final could also be a breakthrough at the adult level. ### Alpieva and dramatic gold Anastasia Alpieva brought the national team's only gold medal so far in the 76 kg category. According to sources, her gold medal final was extremely dramatic: the Ukrainian snatched victory in the final seconds of the deciding bout, leaving her opponent without a medal. This success served as an important moral boost for the entire team ahead of the final days of the tournament. ### Bronze chance for Vynnyk Another Ukrainian representative, Maria Vynnyk (59 kg category), also has a real chance to add to the team's medal count. In the semi-final, she lost to Pan American Games champion Abigail Elizabeth Nette from the USA; however, according to tournament regulations, defeated semi-finalists are entitled to a repechage match for a bronze medal. Vynnyk's opponent in the "bronze" match will be another American, Alexis Marie Janyk. Thus, the Ukrainian team could finish the current day of the World Championships with three medals to their name. The 2026 World Wrestling Championships in Astana continue to gain momentum, and Ukrainian freestyle wrestlers are proving that they remain one of the tournament's key teams. The results of the final and bronze medal bouts will be known in the coming hours. ## Fact-Check & Sources - [Украинка разгромила соперницу и пробилась в финал ЧМ-2026 по борьбе: когда битва за "золото"](https://sport.rbc.ua/ukr/othersport/ukrayinka-rozgromila-supernitsyu-ta-probilasya-1793283949.html) - Primary source.
