A diplomatic controversy has erupted over reports of fuel supplies from Kazakhstan to Russia. Viktor Maiko, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan, issued an official statement completely refuting the version that Astana intends to transfer 50,000 tons of A-92 gasoline to Moscow as humanitarian aid.

The diplomat emphasized that the essence of the message was distorted at the publication stage. The root cause of the confusion was an incorrect formulation in one of the news agencies, where a potential commercial deal was mistakenly labeled as an act of humanitarian support.

### Commerce or humanitarian aid?

"No one has provided humanitarian aid to anyone. There is no talk of aid. However, a commercial component in this case is quite possible. However, all this is still only hypothetical statements," stated Viktor Maiko.

According to the ambassador, at the moment, no official requests from Russia have been received by Kazakhstan. This fact was confirmed by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Thus, the discussion concerns only theoretical assumptions not supported by real contracts or applications.

### Economic logic: why exports are unlikely

Even if considering a scenario of purely commercial supply, the ambassador expressed serious doubts about its feasibility. Kazakhstan itself is a net importer of oil products, experiencing a shortage of A-92 and A-95 gasoline, diesel fuel, and aviation kerosene.

Domestic demand for fuel in the country remains extremely high for objective reasons:

    - In northern Kazakhstan, the winter period lasts about seven months, which requires significant fuel reserves.

    - Active field work during the summer season also requires large volumes of fuel.

"Therefore, I doubt that the transfer of 50,000 tons of gasoline will take place now," the diplomat summarized.

### Comparison of scales: Kazakhstan vs. India

Maiko urged the public and the media to be objective in assessing the scale of fuel supplies to Russia. He pointed out that the loud talk about 50,000 tons from Kazakhstan overshadowed a much more significant news story.

Meanwhile, an agreement has been signed between Russia and India for the supply of 400,000 tons of gasoline monthly. On an annual basis, this amounts to 5 million tons. According to the Ukrainian diplomat, it is this massive flow that deserves close attention, rather than hypothetical volumes from Kazakhstan.

Earlier, it was reported that Russia began actively importing gasoline by sea from India to compensate for the fuel shortage caused by Ukraine's attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.
