A scandal is unfolding within the Ukrainian foreign ministry. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Cyprus, Serhiy Nizhynsky, has announced his resignation, citing pressure from the ministry's leadership as the reason. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has categorically refuted these claims, labeling them as lies and manipulation.

### Allegations of Illegal Demands

Media reports indicate that the diplomat submitted a resignation letter to the President of Ukraine. In his statement, Serhiy Nizhynsky claimed that his decision was driven by the actions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiga. According to the ambassador, the head of the ministry demanded that he carry out decisions which, in the diplomat's view, contradict Ukrainian legislation and could harm the state.

### MFA Response: "Lies and Simulation"

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine described the ambassador's accusations as "groundless" and "manipulative." The ministry emphasized that legally, Nizhynsky does not have the right to resign from diplomatic service on his own, as he lacks the necessary category and rank.

An official representative of the MFA stated that this is not a voluntary departure but an attempt to simulate one. According to the ministry, at the time the information was published in the media, the diplomat had already been recommended for recall.

### Reasons for Recall: Passivity and Risks

It has emerged that the Minister of Foreign Affairs submitted a proposal to the President to recall Serhiy Nizhynsky as early as June 10. The grounds for this were a lack of significant results in his work, inertia, and the creation of reputational risks for the state.

Special attention in the ministry was paid to the period of Cyprus's presidency of the EU. The press service noted that the decision to open a cluster for Ukraine was achieved "despite, not thanks to" the ambassador's work.

"His tenure in the Republic of Cyprus was characterized by passivity and reputational risks," the MFA summarized.

### Personnel Purge

This incident occurs against the backdrop of personnel changes in the diplomatic corps announced in the spring by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The ministry believes that the diplomat, upon learning of his recall, decided to get ahead of events by leveling accusations against the leadership through the media.
