# Targeted hunt on logistics: how Ukrposhta survives under shelling in frontline zones

Ukraine's logistics infrastructure has become a priority target for Russian military forces. Amidst ongoing attacks on civilian facilities, the state postal service Ukrposhta is forced to radically change its operational strategy in frontline regions to maintain service for the population and ensure employee safety.

Company CEO Ihor Smylianskyi confirmed that Russian occupiers regularly shell postal service facilities in several cities, forcing the enterprise to adopt new work formats. The situation remains critical, but the company has no intention of abandoning its obligations to residents.

### Damage in Sumy Oblast

Particularly severe blows have been struck in Sumy Oblast. In the city of Sumy, enemy attacks caused damage to the sorting center, the administrative building, and one of the post offices. Despite the destruction, the sorting center and the post office have already resumed operations and continue to serve clients. Work is currently underway in the administrative building to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

The situation remains tense in other frontline cities of the region, particularly in Bile Pole and Vorozhba. Ihor Smylianskyi emphasized the uniqueness of the situation in Bile Pole: at present, Ukrposhta is the only company continuing to operate in the city alongside utility workers, police, and the State Emergency Service (SES).

To minimize risks to human life, the company has switched these settlements to service via mobile post offices. The operating schedule of these mobile points depends directly on the current security situation and the threat of shelling.

### "Hunt" for vehicles in Nikopol

In the city of Nikopol, the enemy's tactics have changed: occupiers have begun to specifically "hunt" for postal service vehicles. To protect employees and equipment from destruction, Ukrposhta has developed new security routes. The company does not disclose details of these routes to maintain secrecy and protect logistics chains.

Despite constant threats and the risk of being shot at, the company continues to provide a full range of services to the residents of Nikopol. However, clients are warned about possible temporary changes in the operating schedule, which may arise depending on the operational situation.

### Attacks on logistics hubs

Attacks on logistics are not limited to frontline cities alone. On the night of June 8, an enemy kamikaze drone struck Ukrposhta's logistics hub in Kharkiv. As a result of the strike, the facility was partially destroyed, but according to Smylianskyi, there were no casualties among the staff.

Earlier, on the morning of May 17, Russian drones struck the sorting terminal of a competitor — Nova Poshta — in Sumy Oblast twice. At the time of the attack, there were more than 13,000 shipments in the terminal, confirming the scale of attacks on the country's logistics infrastructure as a whole.
