For thousands of applicants, the most critical stage has begun β€” choosing their future university and major. The Ministry of Education and Science (MES) has published important clarifications regarding the handling of applications after they are submitted via the electronic cabinet. Mistakes at this stage can cost a spot in a state-funded (budget) program. ### Critical moment: "Registered" status MES specialists emphasize: once an applicant clicks the button to submit an application, key data within it can no longer be changed arbitrarily. The system fixes the information, and the document receives the status "Registered". It is at this stage that the applicant has their last chance to cancel the application without losing priority. Cancelling an application before it is processed by the university's admissions commission allows for a new document to be submitted. In this case, priority (the ordinal number of the choice) is preserved, provided actions are taken within the established limit and before the submission deadline expires. ### Clarifying data: do not confuse with a new submission The situation changes when the application goes to the admissions commission for review. After verification, the status may change to "Registered at the educational institution" or "Requires clarification by the applicant". If the second status appears, the applicant must urgently open the message from the university in their personal cabinet. The notification will clearly state exactly which data requires correction, how to do it, and by what date. The MES warns: clarification does not mean the ability to fill out the application from scratch. The applicant has the right to make changes only to the fields requested by the admissions commission. ### Irreversible consequences of cancellation The most risky step is cancelling an application that already has the status "Registered at the educational institution". In this case, the consequences will be serious: it is no longer possible to submit a new application in place of the cancelled one. Furthermore, the priority number used in the cancelled application cannot be applied to another choice. Experts recommend regularly monitoring document statuses in the electronic cabinet. All cancellation actions are available exclusively until the application acceptance deadline expires, so every step should be thought out in advance. ### Key figures of the 2024 campaign The current admission season is characterized by the following parameters: - Application acceptance will last until 6:00 PM on August 1. - An applicant has the right to submit up to 10 applications, of which no more than 5 can be for state-funded (budget) places. - The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated more than 166,000 state-funded places in higher and professional higher education institutions. - To enter a state-funded program for most majors, it is necessary to score at least 130 points. - For elite directions, the entry threshold is set at 150 points.
