# Urgent Digitization: Deadline of June 10 for Ukrainians with Employment Books from Before 2004

For millions of Ukrainians whose employment began before January 1, 2004, a critical moment has arrived. The Pension Fund of Ukraine has set a clear deadline: paper employment books must be digitized by June 10. This requirement applies to everyone who started working in the country before the introduction of electronic records.

### Who and How Can Upload Data

The procedure for converting documents into digital format does not require a personal visit to government institutions. Both employees and their employers can take the initiative. The action algorithm is maximally simplified:

- It is necessary to make high-quality scanned copies of all filled pages of the employment book.

- Upload the obtained files to the official web portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (portal.pfu.gov.ua).

The portal also offers a verification function: in the personal cabinet, you can check whether your paper book has already been converted to digital format.

### What to Do If the Document Is Lost or the Enterprise Is in a Combat Zone

The situation regarding the confirmation of work experience becomes more complicated for those whose enterprises are located in occupied territories or in areas of active combat operations. In such cases, a paper employment book may be replaced by other legal documents. The Pension Fund accepts:

- Employment contracts;

- Certificates on salary accrual;

- Certificates from the place of work;

- Excerpts from orders.

If documentary evidence cannot be found, work experience can be confirmed by two witnesses who worked together with the applicant. The key condition: witnesses must have their own documents confirming their joint labor.

### Consequences of Missing the Deadline

The main question worrying citizens: what will happen if you don't make it by June 10? Experts and representatives of the department give a reassuring answer — insurance work experience will not be lost. The Pension Fund will continue to accept scanned copies of employment books after June 10, 2026. However, timely submission of documents will help avoid bureaucratic delays in the future and ensure transparency in pension accounting.
