The US Department of State has announced the imposition of new sanctions against a number of Russian military structures and commercial organizations. The restrictions are imposed for violating the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Nonproliferation Act (INKSNA).

### Who is affected

The sanctions list includes specific units of the Russian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of Russia. In addition, two companies have been sanctioned: "Gideon Alpha" and LLC "International Invest Company," as well as all their successors, structural subdivisions, and subsidiaries.

New names have also appeared in the list of individuals, however, their specific details are not disclosed in the State Department's statement.

### Essence of the restrictions

US authorities clarified that US government agencies are now prohibited from purchasing goods, technologies, or services from those on the sanctions list, as well as entering into any contracts with them. Providing any support, selling military products, and issuing export licenses is prohibited.

### Chronology of events

As clarified by the State Department, these restrictions came into force on July 24, but the official announcement was made only on August 4. The INKSNA law allows the US to impose sanctions on foreign companies and citizens who cooperate with Iran, Syria, or North Korea in the supply of goods, services, or technologies that could be used for the development of weapons of mass destruction and missile armaments.

Previously, Ukraine also imposed sanctions against suppliers of parts for Russian ballistics. At the same time, the US Senate is discussing the issue of additional sanctions against Russia, however, the adoption of corresponding measures is being hindered by certain conditions.
