A new scandal is unfolding in American politics concerning the Middle East settlement. US Vice President JD Vance has publicly accused several members of the Israeli government of attempting to manipulate public opinion in the United States. According to him, these actions are aimed at derailing diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

### Lobbying Against Peace

In an interview published on July 17, Vance revealed details of the conflict. He stated that representatives of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet are actively lobbying the American public, urging them to reject any attempts to reach an agreement with Iran. Furthermore, the Vice President accused Israeli officials of organizing a paid campaign to attack him personally.

"They constantly attack me, claiming that the US should not negotiate with Iran and should continue the military campaign indefinitely," the press quotes Vance. The politician also rejected any suggestions that his position might be the result of foreign government influence.

### Support from the White House

The Vice President's position found resonance in the administration. On the same day, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt confirmed that President Donald Trump and JD Vance share a unified view on the Iranian issue. At the same time, Levitt acknowledged the obvious fact that other countries are indeed trying to influence American public opinion in their own interests.

This is not the first time Vance has criticized the actions of Tel Aviv. Last month, he emphasized that the US remains Israel's only powerful ally and stated that the Israeli leadership should not attack its key strategic partner.

### Political Context and Elections in Israel

Vance's statements came against a backdrop of growing tension in bilateral relations. Criticism of Netanyahu is also intensifying within the US. For instance, California Governor Gavin Newsom, in a recent interview with Axios, expressed serious concern, stating that Israel risks becoming a "racist state" due to its policies in Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that Washington and Tehran are approaching the signing of a memorandum of understanding. At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue air strikes on Lebanon despite the declared ceasefire. The political future of Prime Minister Netanyahu is under threat: general elections are scheduled to take place in Israel in October, and the outcome of the campaign will be the subject of close attention from the international community.
