19-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Veronika Podrez successfully overcame the first hurdle of the qualification at the prestigious tournament in Prague. In a tense three-set match, she managed to defeat the Czech representative Tereza Krejcova.

### Match progress: from a difficult start to a confident victory

The match did not start smoothly for the Ukrainian. Podrez lost the first set with a score of 3:6. Notably, in this segment of the game, both opponents demonstrated instability at the start, giving up the first games on their own serves.

However, already in the second set, Veronika managed to turn the tide of the match. She began to dominate her opponent, winning the set with a score of 6:2. The third set went even more convincingly for the Ukrainian tennis player — she crushed the Czech with a score of 6:1 and guaranteed herself a place in the next stage.

### Who will be the next opponent?

Now Veronika Podrez's path leads to a match with the Japanese representative Rina Saigo. The winner of this confrontation will get the coveted chance to advance to the main draw of the Prague Open tournament.

### About the tournament in Prague

The capital of the Czech Republic has been hosting WTA 250 level competitions since 2010. Initially, this was an ITF series tournament, but since 2015 it has been included in the official schedule of the WTA tour season.

Historically, local athletes have most often triumphed on the courts of Prague. Out of 15 tournaments held, Czech tennis players celebrated victory nine times. The reigning champion of the Prague Open is Marie Bouzkova, who last year in the final defeated her compatriot Linda Noskova with a score of 2:6, 6:1, 6:3.
