# Viber integrates ChatGPT: AI assistant now available directly in chat

Messenger Viber has taken a significant step in the digitalization of communications by integrating ChatGPT artificial intelligence functions directly into the application interface. The new update is already available for Ukrainian users, providing access to powerful neural network tools without the need to switch to third-party platforms.

### How AI works in the messenger

Developers have provided two main ways to interact with the neural network. Users can communicate with the bot in a separate dialog window or invoke it directly within personal and group chats using the "@" symbol mention. This allows for collective discussion of AI responses while continuing the general conversation.

To avoid confusion, messages generated by artificial intelligence will have special visual marking. Initially, the number of free requests to the system will be limited, however, users will be able to authorize under their OpenAI profile to access extended capabilities.

### Tools for everyday tasks

The update brings a wide range of practical functions designed to simplify routine tasks:

    - **ChatGPT Images:** A tool for working with graphics directly in the chat. It allows editing photos, changing styles, adding elements, or creating thematic versions of images based on templates. Access to this function requires logging into an OpenAI account.

    - **Quick Summary:** The neural network can automatically create a summary of long documents and links shared by chat participants. By default, this function is active in group chats.

    - **Chat Recap:** Generation of a personal report on a missed conversation. This report is generated individually for a specific user and is not displayed to other participants in the correspondence.

    - **Correction and Translation:** Using the pen icon, you can change the tone of a message, make it clearer, or automatically translate the text into another language before sending.

### Security and Privacy

The Rakuten Viber and OpenAI teams have emphasized the preservation of data privacy. ChatGPT algorithms have access exclusively to the text of the specific request in which they were mentioned. The rest of the correspondence remains protected by the messenger's end-to-end encryption.

Obtained data is stored for a limited time and is not used to train future language models. All user activity is strictly regulated by OpenAI's security and content usage policies.

### Development Plans

In the near future, new AI tools will become available to all owners of devices based on iOS and Android. Subsequently, developers plan to expand functionality to the desktop version of the Viber client.
