Major changes are brewing in the political life of Serbia. The current head of state, Aleksandar Vučić, has publicly announced his intention to leave the presidential post to take on a new key position. The Serbian leader is considering the possibility of his candidacy for the post of Prime Minister of the country.

Vučić made the corresponding statement on the air of Radio Belgrade. Answering journalists' questions about the prospects of his stay in power, the president did not rule out resignation in the next three to four months, noting that this process could start even sooner.

### Political rotation and preparation for departure

Vučić emphasized that his departure would not be related to a reduction in the term of office, but would be formalized as a voluntary resignation. According to the politician, the possibility of his transition to the position of head of government is actively discussed within the ruling party on a daily basis.

The leader of Serbia admitted that he has already begun preparing for a change of status. In particular, he reported the start of the process of moving personal belongings from the residence. Vučić paid special attention to his library: he intends to donate 1,200 books received during his presidential term to one of the institutions, although the specific recipient has not yet been chosen.

Furthermore, Vučić's political force has already begun searching for a successor to the highest state post. The president confirmed that candidates for the upcoming elections are already being considered, but refused to name specific surnames, only noting that the future contender will have high chances of victory.

### Future plans and public resonance

To explain his plans in detail, Vučić invited supporters to a rally scheduled for June 27. At the event, the leader promised to present a new list of candidates and his vision for the further development of the country.

The head of state's statement came against the backdrop of growing public pressure. Demands for the resignation of Aleksandar Vučić have been heard in Serbia for several months. At the end of May, large-scale anti-government protests organized by the student movement with the support of the opposition resumed in Belgrade.

At that time, tens of thousands of people took to the streets of the capital with the slogan "Students Win". The situation escalated after the end of the action, when some of the protesters moved towards the rally of the government supporters, which led to clashes with the police. In this context, the president's words about a possible change of roles are perceived as a response to the complex domestic political situation.
