According to assessments by Western leaders, the war in Ukraine is entering a protracted phase. Finnish President Alexander Stubb, in an interview with the publication Hufvudstadsbladet, stated that hostilities will not cease in the immediate future and will last for at least another three to four months.

### The Myth of Conflict Expansion

The Finnish leader paid special attention to alarming forecasts heard in some countries, including Sweden. These scenarios suggest that after establishing peace on the Ukrainian front, Russia might move to direct actions against NATO states. Stubb called such concerns erroneous and lacking a factual basis.

According to the President, Moscow's strategic goal is to destabilize Europe. Part of this hybrid operation is to make Europeans themselves believe in the inevitability of a Russian attack. As Commander-in-Chief, Stubb emphasized: "I see no evidence" of the Kremlin's plans to expand the front.

### NATO Position and Risk Assessment

The thesis regarding Russia's reluctance to enter a direct conflict with the Alliance was supported by NATO General Alexus Grinkevich, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe. He noted that Moscow realizes the inevitability of military defeat in the event of a clash with the collective West, and therefore will not dare to attack the Baltic states.

Grinkevich pointed out that the Kremlin currently does not seek a direct conflict with Western powers. At the same time, Alexander Stubb reminded that a stable and safe Russia is critically important for Finland, but this should not become a reason for panic or erroneous geopolitical conclusions.

### Public Opinion in Ukraine

Against the backdrop of foreign policy discussions, monitoring of public sentiment continues within Ukraine itself. According to data from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, 56% of Ukrainians believe that the US is pushing Kyiv to make concessions to Russia. This indicates a certain skepticism regarding the position of the American partner.

At the same time, trust in European support is growing: 64% of respondents are convinced that European partners continue to provide serious assistance to Ukraine. The gap in the perception of the role of the US and the EU may become an important factor in shaping Kyiv's foreign policy in the coming months.
