# Weapons for retribution: what military investigators found in the Dnipropetrovsk region

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, law enforcement officers discovered two units of small arms, which, according to the investigation, could have been used by military personnel when committing serious crimes in the Kyiv region. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Military Service of Law and Order (VSN).

### Search results and version of the investigation

Complex measures were carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under articles on intentional murder (part 1 of part 2 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping (part 3 of article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). On July 9, law enforcement officers conducted searches on the territory of one of the hromadas of the Dnipropetrovsk region. During these actions, two specimens of firearms were seized.

The investigation is considering the version that the found rifles belonged to military personnel of one of the military units and were used by them when committing a crime on the territory of the Kyiv region. According to available data, it may be about the fighters of the 155th separate mechanized brigade.

### Expertise and further actions

All seized weapons have already been handed over to the investigators of the National Police to conduct the necessary expertise. The results of the studies will become the key evidence: they should establish the exact circumstances of the incident, as well as confirm or refute that shots were fired from this weapon during the crimes.

### Context: tragedy in Kalinovka

The events that led to these search measures began on the night of June 28. Then a group of seven people entered the territory of the house of two brothers in the village of Kalinovka in the Kyiv region. The men were forcibly taken away in an unknown direction. According to the investigation, the cause of the crime was revenge due to a domestic conflict between the victims and the wife of the former commander of the platoon of the 155th OMBR Stanislav Luchanov. Later, the bodies of the deceased were found in a forest belt on the territory of the Poltava region.

### Status of the suspects

On July 11, it became known that Stanislav Luchanov left his place of service without permission, after which he was put on the wanted list. On the same day, nine servicemen of the brigade were suspended from their duties due to suspicion of involvement in the kidnapping of civilians. In the evening of July 11, law enforcement officers informed Luchanov of suspicion under articles on illegal deprivation of liberty and intentional murder. Later, on July 14, the court chose the ex-brigade commander a preventive measure in the form of detention for 60 days without the right to pay bail.
