# Weather chaos in Ukraine: from downpours in the west to anomalous heat in the east

On June 12, Ukraine is expected to experience a sharp change in weather conditions, forcing residents of different regions to experience a wide range of meteorological phenomena. Meteorologists warn of thunderstorms, squalls, and hail, as well as significant temperature contrasts across the country.

### "Synoptic M&Ms"

According to expert Natalia Didenko, on Friday Ukraine will become the stage for a "luxurious spectrum" of weather phenomena. The cause of this instability is an atmospheric front moving from the west of the country. It is this front that will bring what the meteorologist calls "synoptic M&Ms".

A feature of the day will be a temperature gap. In the west of the country, the air will warm up to only +11...+15°C, while in the east, the thermometer columns will rise to +27...+30°C. In most regions, the daytime temperature will be between +24 and +28 degrees.

### Yellow danger level

Ukrhydrogrometcenter has officially warned about dangerous meteorological phenomena, assigning them a yellow danger level. According to forecasts, short-term but heavy downpours are possible in some areas.

Such weather conditions can negatively affect the operation of various sectors of infrastructure. Meteorologists note risks for energy, construction, and utility enterprises, as well as for traffic.

### Weekend forecast and summer risks

Despite the rainy weather expected in the coming days, meteorologist Natalia Didenko forecasts a cooling down by the weekend in most regions.

However, the long-term prospects look more alarming. The World Meteorological Organization of the UN has warned that by 2030, the Earth will likely experience a new global temperature record. This is due to climate change and the expected return of the El Niño phenomenon. Ukraine is also in the risk zone: anomalous heat in the summer looks likely.

Former head of "Ukrenergo" Volodymyr Kudritsky noted in an interview with RBC-Ukraine that due to destroyed generation, prolonged heat above +35°C will inevitably lead to electricity consumption restrictions.
